Mo Stanford’s card against lefties is horrendous, and I have an all lefty lineup, so I expected big hitting in this one. Was a little disappointed until Milt Thompson hit a grand slam in the sixth. He only hit three in ’93, and this was his third for me, but I think one of those was a grand slam in real life. Too lazy to look it up. Schilling was a little shaky early, but only gave up two runs. Andersen stopped some bleeding in the seventh and Mitch got the cheese three one save.

Always fun to play in Colorado, though this game was a little low scoring. All of the Rockies runs came on homeruns, a solo shot by future Phillies manager Girardi and a two run homer by former Phillie Hayes. We scored our runs the old fashioned way with base hits and ground outs to move the runner. Mulholland went eight and Mitch came in for the one run save. In typical style, he gave up a lead off baserunner who quickly stole second. Pair of strikeouts and then a walk, to increase everyone’s pulse rate. A fly out ended the game.

This was a rough one. We basically were beat by Todd Hundley. He hit a grand slam in the second, which were the only runs Greene gave up. We managed to claw our way back with three runs in the seventh and a solo shot by Duncan in the eighth. BUT Andersen came into the ninth and gave up a two run homerun to Hundley, then Franco slammed the door on us to secure our loss.

Rivera gave up a solo homer in the second and not much else. The Mets committed five errors, which contributed to most of our runs. Man did that team suck in ’93. I mean they always suck, but especially in ’93.

Schilling was perfect through three and had a no hitter through five, but ruined it all with a triple that eventually scored. Speaking of triples, Jeltz hit two and Hollins had one immediately after one. Incaviglia was three for four with two RBIs.

I rolled out my cheese lineup for lefties and they didn’t do much. Jackson was a little shaky giving up a bunch of hits, but only two runs. He had to be pulled tied at two with a couple runners on and Andersen immediately gave up a homerun. They put in Wetteland in the eighth and he recorded a two inning save as we couldn’t do anything to come back. First loss against the Expos this season. Boo.

This was a bit of a wild one. Started off well, Chamberlain hit a three run homerun in the first, but the Expos kept chipping away, eventually tying it up in the eighth. To extra innings we went. I kept Andersen out there for longer than I probably should have, but it paid off. He threw three shutout innings and Hollins slammed a two run walk off homer in the thirteenth inning.

Looked like it might be another rough game. Schilling gave up a bunch of hits early along with four runs and we were quite able to keep up the pace. In the seventh Dykstra had a solo shot to get us within one and in the eighth Inky lead off the inning with another solo homerun. A few batters later Pratt hit a pinch-hit two run homer to give us the lead. West held down the fort in the bottom of the eighth and Mitch came into the ninth for the save.
