June 7th vs Astros

Dutch had another big game, carrying the offense with a grand slam to give us a 4-3 lead that we never relinquished. Rivera gave up a three run homer and nothing else, then gave way to Wild Thing for another adventurous save, loading the bases with no one out then getting a double play and strikeout, giving up a run but getting the would-be easy save.

June 6th vs Rockies

Started off scary with Jackson loading the bases with the first three batters, but somehow pitched out of it with no damage done. Daulton hit a three run blast that gave us the lead and we never looked back. He added a two run shot a few innings later. Jackson gave us seven solid innings and we pulled him with a chance to tack on some more runs. With an 8-1 lead we put in mason to mop up the rest, but he loaded it up and gave up a pinch-hit grand slam to Daryl Boston, making the game suddenly closer than it should have been. Mike Williams came in to close it out and get an easy save.

June 5th vs Rockies

A two run homer in the first by Kruk and five shutout innings by Schilling made it feel like this game was under control, but the Phils’ bats were quiet after the first while the Rockies scraped out three runs, including the game winning two out single by Castilla that took advantage of a lead off triple. Holmes came out and got the save as we went down quietly in the night.

June 4th vs Rockies

This was a whoppin’! We jumped out to a five run lead before ever recording an out, capped off with back-to-back homeruns from Daulton and Inky. That’s chased Blair from the game and their bullpen managed to settle things down as Leskanic pitched four quality innings but must have tired and gave up a run, bringing in our old friend Bruce Ruffin. Couple runs later and a complete game shutout by Greene made this one a laugher.

June 2nd @ Reds

Runs were tough to come by and the bullpen couldn’t hold a tie. Three consecutive singles in the seventh were enough to give the Reds a two run lead and Dibble closed it out in the ninth. Boring.

June 1st @ Reds

Great comeback and win in extra innings. Jumped out to a 3-1 lead thanks to a two run shot by Milt Thompson. Lost that partly thanks to an error by Dykstra. Down a run in the ninth with Dibble on for the Reds to close it out, but apparently he sucked in ’93. Walk and steal by Thompson and Dykstra hit a redeeming RBI double to tie it up. The bullpen was stellar which sent us tied up to the tenth where another walk, steal and double later we had a one run lead going to the bottom of the tenth. Wild Thing time once again, and he gave another nail biter. Gave up a walk and single in between a couple outs. Two on, two out, and he gets Sanders to fly out and end the game securing his 14th save of the season!

May 31st @ Reds

Thought we were going to cruise through this one, up 5-0 into the bottom of the third and then the wheels fell off for Jackson. Loaded the bases with no one out, strikeout and lineout later looked like he might escape unharmed. But then he walked in a run and gave up a grand slam to Reggie Sanders. Suddenly he was weak and had to be pulled. Tie game and up to the bullpen to calm things down. They did okay, but DeLeon gave up one run which is enough to put us behind until a wacky eight saw us tie it without a hit. Back-to-back errors and a wild pitch got us back in the game. To extra innings we went and Hollins hit a solo shot to give us the lead in the 10th. A pinch hit double by Chamberlain followed by a pinch hit single by Batiste and we had a two run cushion for Wild Thing. He got the first two outs, then a double, and the last out to seal the game. No 1-2-3 innings for this guy!

May 30th @ Rockies

Whelp, guess they didn’t save enough runs. This one hurt, plus it was on my 21st birthday! We scored only three runs on seventeen hits! The dice got even from last game. Top of the 12th we had a sac fly chance, 1-15 and I rolled 16. So bummer. Bottom of the 12th they had a homerun chance of 1…just 1, and they rolled a 1. So a walk off homer from Freddie Fuckin Benavides, breaking our 12 game winning streak. Blarg.

May 29th @ Rockies

Wow! This was an old fashioned ass whoopin’. I like playing in Colorado. Since I use the ballpark effects, and this is such a hitters park, we went on a tear. Everyone hit (woo hoo!). Even Tommy Greene had three singles and a pair of RBI’s. Hollins had a two run shot, Inky and Duncan each had a three run homer, and Kruk hit a grand slam. Hope they saved some runs for tomorrow!
