May 26th vs Mets

We were cruising to an easy win. Knocked in four in the second, then a couple insurance runs later (which we wound up needing badly). Jackson was solid through eight, giving way to Wild Thing for a would-be easy three run save. Whelp, man on second with two outs. Walk, single, single, and suddenly we have men on the corners, a one run lead with Bobby Bonilla at the plate. Guess he was too busy thinking about all the money he’s gonna steal from the Mets in the future, because he went down swinging and another high stress save was in the books.

May 25th vs Mets

Chamberlain had a couple RBI singles. Schilling was solid. And Mitch gave up a lead off double, but then struck out the side to secure the win. The dice weren’t always friendly, but the Mets really sucked in ’93. Well, the Mets always suck, but their record was bad that season too.

May 24th vs Mets

This one was pretty wild. A lot of unlikely homeruns. Amaro and Fernandez both had one all of 1993, and both hit one today. So did Jeltz and Hundley as well as Howard Johnson and Hollins. Despite all that, we had a two run lead in the eight that vanished with yet another homerun, this time by Kent to tie it up. Bottom of the ninth, bases loaded, Franco on the mound and Kruk at the plate. Had a possible homerun chance 1-14, but rolled 18. Boo, but with no outs both the infield and outfield was in, so the would be flyball turned into a game winning single. Grand slam would have been more fun, but happy for the win regardless.

May 22nd vs Expos

Kinda boring game. Dutch hit a two run homer and Mulholland went the distance giving up only one run. We’re a quarter through the season so let’s look at some stats. Most of the lineup is hitting over .300 which is pretty crazy, except Hollins. He’s been a huge disappointment and such a defensive liability. Ugh. Daulton leads with ten homeruns. Pitching is as expected with Mulholland, Schilling, and Greene leading the way. The rest have been meh to bad. We’re 31-10 with is three games above the actual season. So far so good!

May 21st vs Expos

We were down most the game. Took Jackson out a little early for a pinch hitter, but that only got us one run. Down two in the seventh we batted around and scored six runs before recording a single out, and that was enough. Andersen came in and closed out the game.

May 20th vs Expos

Straight up blow out. Inky had four RBIs, a couple solo homeruns from Chamberlain and Dutch, and Schilling cruised through nine only allowing a solo homerun to Walker. Easy peasy.

May 19th @ Marlins

Another nail biter from Wild Thing. We took a one run lead into the ninth. Started with a ground out. Would this be the mythical 1-2-3 inning from Williams? A walk and single later, no. With the lead run aboard he strikes out the next two batters and secures another win!

May 18th @ Marlins

Another Wild Thing save. Three run lead this time. Walk, single, and error, suddenly bases loaded with no outs and a two run lead. We trade another run for a double play then a strikeout to end it and get another bad save. Part of this is bad luck, but damn is Mitch sucking lately.

May 17th @ Marlins

Typical Mitch Williams heart attack game. Mulholland pitched a nice game and we took a 5-2 lead into the ninth. A couple bad X-rating rolls gave them second and third with no outs. Two run single later and our lead is down to one. Two outs then a walk and everyone is biting their nails, but a strikeout ends the misery and saves the win. How this team got to the World Series is beyond me.
