August 27th vs Reds

On paper we should have destroyed these guys, but they shut us out through five until Hollins hit a two run triple to take the lead. Mulholland had a rough first inning, but only gave up one run and shut them down after. In the eighth Hollins knocked in two more with a homer, leaving him a double shy of the cycle. West, Andersen, and Mitch finished it off, with Mitch getting a strikeout with the bases loaded to secure the save.

Virtual Pinball PC Parts Acquired!

Had to put this off for a long time. We replaced the carpeting upstairs with new flooring and other expenses kept popping up each month. I often have a hard time justifying large purchases for myself, but finally decided what the heck. I haven’t been playing on my test setup much lately since newer tables were proving too much for my old PC. It was kinda bumming me out that I had to wait to upgrade, but wait no longer! Here’s the inventory list:

For now, I’m using an old case I had lying around in the basement. Had to drill out the hard drive enclosures in it so the massive video card will fit. Next steps is to plug everything in, install Windows 11, then all the vpin software and configure it with my setup. Then the fun of going through and adding tables.

Later this summer, hoping to build the table itself. I really enjoy wood working, so looking forward to that. Stay tuned!

August 25th vs Rockies

Greene pitched well to break the losing streak and salvage one game from this series. We were clinging to a one run lead in the seventh when the Rockies had to go to the bullpen, but that was putting gasoline on the fire. Eisenreich his a two run double and Stocker followed that up with an RBI single. Greene gave up a solo shot in the ninth, so Mitch came in for an easy two out save.

Eighteen innings! We came so close to walk off homeruns several times, but kept falling short. We ran out of bench players, they ran out of pitchers. Andy Ashby came in and got the save. I dunno, this game was crazy and I’m wiped.

We knocked in seven in the first inning with all singles and walks. Went on cruise control for the rest of the game. Mulholland only gave up a solo shot in the seventh and went the distance.

Had a great pitching duel. Drabek and Rivera threw shutouts through six until Dykstra hit a solo shot to take the lead, but in the bottom of the seventh Taubensee hit a two run homer, and that was all they needed as Drabek went the distance ending our winning streak.

Bit of back and forth in this one. Dykstra had a lead off triple and soon scored, but then Cedeno hit a three run homer in the second. Scratched back in the next inning to tie, but Bagwell had a lead off homerun to retake the lead. In the fourth we took over, mainly thanks to a three run homerun by Dykstra, who was a double shy of the cycle (denied, yet again!). West and Mitch came in to close the door and secure the win.

Started as a rough game. We were shutout through six and Jackson was getting lit up early. A two base error broke the shutout in the seventh, but in the eighth we went off. batted around, knocked in seven, Inky and Kruk each had a two run homer and Eisenreich hit a bases loaded triple. Andersen and Mitch both had perfect innings to close out the game and sweep the series.
